My 1999 Honda Civic DX didn't come with air conditioning. So, I purchased a 160amp alternator, 2000 watt inverter, wired up the inverter to my battery with 4 gauge(i think) wire, and purchased an old 10.7 EER 7800BTU window air conditioner. Hot air goes in the trunk and this is pumped out by the fastest 120mm computer fan I could find. Works well except the air conditioner is a bit of a beast. I put a Tripplite LC2400 voltage boosting line conditioner that plugs into an outlet on the inverter, and then powers the air conditioner due to low voltage coming from the inverter. But, still, a new air conditioner is needed, preferably one with a variable speed compressor.
